And I know that the New NSX will not win many end-of-year group tests. Which makes the result feel... strange, to me.
I swear I thought the C7 Grand Sport would come out on top.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
In the end, I’m glad the New NSX won. I’m not sure what kind of message this sends to Ohio and Japan, and I won’t care.

Exactly, proving time and time again that the Corvette isn’t just America’s sports car, but one of the best performance car values in the world!

I did the Jaaag/Land booth for the auto show a couple times, I like the F Type, I got to check it out for a few days during the in of the show. Sounded great in the underground tunnel to the hall.

I got halfway through the article and thought,
“This sure is a lot of unnecessarily flowery prose, written for its own sake. I bet it was written by Jack Baruth.”
Then I checked the byline.
It’s like he uses the Autoblog writing style guide but is a bit less clumsy about it.
Ugh.

the evora is one 240lb passenger away from weighing the same as the corvette, that’s kinda shocking

I guess from an engineering standpoint the NSX would beat the Vette, plus it’s also much nicer to be in and rides plenty more comfortably. Not sure if it’s more fun to drive though.

It amazes me how expensive both the R8 and the GTR have become over the last few years.

It’s a pretty big car with a real, nice interior, though, so not super surprising. And it’s pretty much the same size as the Vette.

I mean, they’ve also become better in pretty much every measurable aspect, so it kinda makes sense.

Not sure about 2016, but 1991 Performance car of the year perhaps?

Their mantra is “simplify and add lightness for a reason”. Given how light the Evora is despite having 4 seats and a heavy old supercharged engine coupled with all the luxuries, it really makes a mockery of all the other “sports cars”. To think they’re making an SUV soon, I wonder how much that will weigh.

Maybe from a “design” standpoint, but engineering? The simplest definition of engineering that I have found is “Design, with Constraints”, and what is more constraining than cost?

this just confirms tthat if I weren’t shopping for 30+ acres of prime pasture realestate with a decent house, I’d be shopping my Local (125 miles away) Lotus dealer for an Evora 400.

Apparently the GT-R has gotten worse though.

Can’t believe the ‘Vette is one of the lightest and pulls the most Gs! Just shows that all the technowizardry in the world won’t make a fat pig dance. Even the legendary GT-R Nismo can’t best the fat 6.2L American’s road holding.

The 911 was talked about in glowing terms and was one of the best vehicles objectively on paper but didn’t make the top 3... I’m done

Engineering is quite a broad word to describe things, maybe ‘design’ should’ve been more specfic. I was thinking of ‘engineering’ in the same way people would use it when talking about cars like the LFA.
But if we’re going by your definition, then you do have a point. However I wouldn’t really call this type of cost-cutting to be much of a feat. There’s not much innovation involved to overcome it, it’s just use of cheaper materials, technology and running gear.
